CRM creates value when everyone agrees who the customer is, what stage the relationship is in, and who owns the next action.
Start with the minimum useful customer data
Keep fields that support filtering, assignment, or action. Too many mandatory fields turn adoption into a data-entry burden.
- Company or customer name
- Contacts and contact methods
- Source and current stage
- Owner and next follow-up date
Define the boundary between a clue and a customer
A clue is still being qualified. Convert it only after identity, demand, and contact quality meet an agreed team standard.
Drive follow-up with the next action
After each interaction, record the outcome and a concrete next date. Stalled records without a next action deserve more attention than raw activity counts.
